Tripoli, Libya - The Libyan Ministry of Trade held a meeting on Tuesday with several meat and poultry suppliers to discuss the progress of supply operations and ensure a stable market during the upcoming Ramadan.

The meeting, attended by high-ranking officials from the Ministry, the Libyan Fatwa House, and relevant regulatory bodies, focused on:

Streamlining Supply Chain: Company owners outlined the procedures followed in the meat supply process, including obtaining approval from the Animal Health Center and adhering to health and Islamic regulations.
Coordinating with Central Bank: The Minister emphasized the importance of organizing the trade policy according to the import budget, working closely with the Central Bank of Libya.
Listing Approved Suppliers: A key decision was to list companies supplying meat through banking operations during 2024 in coordination with the Central Bank.
Expanding Import Sources: A meeting with all relevant stakeholders will be arranged to discuss organizing meat and poultry supply, including approving additional import sources to ensure a stable supply of meat products in the local market, particularly during the month of Ramadan.
This initiative aims to stabilize meat prices and ensure adequate supply for the Libyan population, particularly during the important religious period of Ramadan.
