Chairman Rhee sanggi said, “Strengthening content is our top priority and we will create a new turning point by increasing communication with global readers.”

Seoul, South Korea – The Jaewe Dongpo Shinmun (Korean Diaspora Newspaper), a leading publication representing the global Korean diaspora, held an inauguration ceremony for its new president, Rhee sanggi, on December 5th at the Mirae Hall of the Liberty Corps Federation in Jung-gu, Seoul.

Over 100 guests, including former Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Koo Yoon-cheol, President Han Heon-soo of Soongsil Cyber University, and Kim Sun-ok, Secretary-General of the Women's Executive Committee of the Korea Employers Federation, attended the ceremony.

President Rhee sanggi, known for his extensive public service experience and international network, expressed his commitment to transforming the newspaper into a global platform for Koreans worldwide. In his inaugural address, he emphasized, "Building upon the newspaper's 20-year reputation centered around K-Economy and K-Culture, I will strive to foster closer connections between global readers and the Korean network."

Former Deputy Prime Minister Koo Yoon-cheol delivered a congratulatory speech, expressing his confidence that President Lee's rich experience and expertise would propel the Jaewe Dongpo Shinmun to become a central media outlet for the global Korean community. Additionally, numerous lawmakers and governors, including Kim Seok-ki, Na Kyung-won, Jeong Seong-ho, Yoon Sang-hyun, Ahn Cheol-soo, Kim Jin-tae, Kim Kwan-young, Yoo Jeong-bok, and Park Hyung-jun, sent video messages congratulating President Lee and encouraging him to advocate for the interests of overseas Koreans.

Since its founding in 2003, the Jaewe Dongpo Shinmun has served as a voice for the 7.5 million Korean diaspora, steadily growing in influence. Through initiatives such as the Korean Diaspora Forum and the Korean Diaspora Research Institute, the newspaper has been actively involved in policy forums, seminars, and academic research to promote the rights and interests of overseas Koreans and foster community development.

President Rhee sanggi, a native of Muju, North Jeolla Province, graduated from the Korea Military Academy and earned master's and doctoral degrees in Journalism and International Economic Law from universities in Hong Kong and Mongolia, respectively. With extensive experience serving as the Defense Attaché at the Korean Embassy in China and Mongolia, as well as a policy advisor to the National Assembly Speaker and vice president of the Korea-Mongolia Economic Forum, Lee is well-equipped to lead the Jaewe Dongpo Shinmun.

With the inauguration of President Rhee sanggi, the Jaewe Dongpo Shinmun is poised to strengthen its global Korean network and amplify the voices of the Korean diaspora worldwide.
