SEOUL — Global K-pop sensation Stray Kids has once again rewritten the history books, securing four prestigious honors at the 40th Japan Gold Disc Awards. The group’s overwhelming presence in the Japanese music market was solidified as they emerged as the most-awarded foreign artist of the year, further cementing their status as "Global Top Artists."
The Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAI) announced on March 11 that Stray Kids took home the coveted Best Asian Artist award. Their dominance continued in the album categories, where their third Japanese mini-album, Hollow, earned both Album of the Year (Asia) and a spot in the Best 3 Albums (Asia). Additionally, the group’s high-octane performance energy was recognized as their live Blu-ray for the 2024 fan event, Stray Kids Fan Connecting 2024 “SKZ TOY WORLD,” was named Music Video of the Year (Asia).
A Year of Unprecedented Global Milestones
The Japan Gold Disc Awards, celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, determines winners based on rigorous sales data for albums and videos recorded between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Stray Kids’ sweep reflects a year of relentless activity and massive commercial success in the region.
However, their influence extends far beyond Japan. In 2025, the group achieved a monumental feat on the U.S. charts, securing their eighth consecutive number-one on the Billboard 200. This historic run has placed them in an elite bracket of artists worldwide. Their global market share was further validated by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). According to the IFPI’s 2025 Global Charts, Stray Kids’ fourth studio album, KARMA, ranked second on the Global Album Sales Chart—the highest position for any K-pop artist that year. They also remained the only K-pop act to break into the Top 10 of both the Global Artist Chart and the Global Album Chart.
Connecting with Fans and Headlining the World Stage
The "8-star" group is not slowing down. Stray Kids is set to kick off their domestic activities with their sixth official fan meeting, "Stray Kids 6TH FANMEETING 'STAY in Our Little House'," scheduled for March 28–29 and April 4–5 at the Inspire Arena in Incheon.
Following their domestic schedule, the group will take their "overwhelming majesty" to the Western festival circuit. Stray Kids has been confirmed as a headliner for two of the world’s biggest music festivals: The Governors Ball Music Festival in New York City this June, and Rock in Rio in Brazil this September.
Industry analysts suggest that Stray Kids' consistent success stems from their "self-producing" identity and high-quality content that resonates with a diverse global audience. As they transition from award-winning recording artists to major festival headliners, the eyes of the music world remain fixed on their next move.
