Tehran - South Pars Gas Company (POGC) announced a significant milestone, achieving a daily gas production of 714 million cubic meters (mcm). This achievement was revealed by Sepahdar Abbaszadeh, POGC Managing Director, during a visit by Sedigheh Khazaei, the Deputy Minister of Oil for Management Development and Human Resources.
Abbaszadeh emphasized the unwavering dedication of the POGC workforce in ensuring the continuous and stable supply of gas to the nation. He highlighted that POGC plays a crucial role in the country's energy sector, contributing over 70% of the national gas consumption. Maintaining consistent production was described as a "red line" for the company's operations.
Abbaszadeh expressed gratitude to the Oil Ministry's Human Resources Division for their support in addressing salary cap issues for employees. He expressed optimism that ongoing collaborative efforts would effectively resolve key human capital challenges within the oil industry.
The South Pars gas field, jointly shared with Qatar in the Persian Gulf, comprises 24 development phases. The majority of these phases are currently in full operation. The vast offshore field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, with 3,700 square kilometers located within Iranian territorial waters. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, known as North Dome, lies within Qatari waters.
The field is estimated to hold substantial reserves of natural gas, accounting for approximately 8% of the world's total reserves, along with an estimated 18 billion barrels of condensate.
