SEOUL – Mercedes-Benz Korea has officially launched the latest addition to its lineup of luxury roadsters, the Mercedes-AMG SL 43. This new trim joins the previously released SL 63 4MATIC+, expanding the SL family and offering customers a wider range of choices.

The SL, an icon of automotive excellence, has a rich history dating back to the legendary 300 SL racing car of 1952. Over seven generations, it has evolved while maintaining its status as one of the world's most successful luxury roadsters.

Performance and Efficiency

The heart of the SL 43 is a Mercedes-AMG M139 inline-4 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine. 1  This powerhouse incorporates Formula 1-derived technology, featuring an electric exhaust gas turbocharger. 2  This innovation enhances responsiveness across the engine's speed range, resulting in a more dynamic and efficient driving experience.

The turbocharger, powered by a 48V onboard electrical system, works in tandem with the engine to deliver a peak output of 421 horsepower (ps) and a maximum torque of 51 kg.m. The second-generation belt-driven starter-generator (RSG) adds an extra boost of 10 kW when needed.

These systems work in harmony to sharpen the powertrain's responsiveness. The engine is mated to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9-speed transmission, ensuring maximum efficiency and smooth gear changes. The SL 43 sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds. The sports suspension further contributes to the car's agile handling, providing quick and stable cornering at high speeds.

Luxury and Practicality

The Mercedes-AMG SL 43 seamlessly blends high-performance driving with everyday usability. Like its SL 63 sibling, it features a 2+2 seat configuration and a soft-top convertible. The soft top can be operated at speeds up to 60 km/h and takes only 15 seconds to open or close.

Design

The SL 43's design language is a modern interpretation of the classic 300 SL, embodying Mercedes-Benz's "Sensual Purity" design philosophy while incorporating AMG's sporty DNA. Notable design elements include the signature AMG grille, sleek lines, and a choice of wheel designs.

The interior exudes luxury and sophistication, featuring high-quality materials, comfortable seats, and advanced technology. The cockpit is centered around a driver-focused layout with a digital instrument cluster and a large central touchscreen.
