The event commemorating the 106th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement was held starting at 10:30 AM on March 1st at the rooftop event space on the 2nd floor of the K-Square shopping mall in Bom Retiro, São Paulo's Koreatown.
The commemoration began with the National Anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, with attendees from all walks of the Korean community. This was followed by the introduction of the descendants of those who contributed to Korean independence.
Following this, Ms. Shim Ae-won recited the Declaration of Independence, and Consul General Chae Jin-won of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in São Paulo (hereinafter referred to as the Consulate General) read the commemorative address on behalf of Acting President Choi Sang-mok. Korean Association Vice President Hong Bo-mi gave a commemorative address, reflecting on the meaning of the March 1st Independence Movement.
Additionally, a beautiful performance was given by the Brazil Korean Mothers' Choir, and attendees waved the Korean flag while singing the March 1st Song together with songs such as "Dokdo is Our Land" and "Beautiful Geumgangsan," honoring the spirit of independence.
Finally, the descendants of those who contributed to Korean independence went on stage, waving a large Korean flag and shouting "Hurrah for Korean Independence" three times, concluding the event.
