On the 17th, a shipping ceremony was held at Gosurok Food Farming Association Corporation in Biin-myeon, Seocheon-gun, to export four types of Seocheon Moshi rice cake and three types of Cream Chapssal rice cake to the Middle East (Qatar and Saudi Arabia), with County Governor Kim Ki-woong and officials in attendance.
This export marks the first foray of Seocheon Moshi rice cake into the Middle East market, with a total of 3 tons (worth approximately 20 million won) being shipped. Gosurok Food Farming Association Corporation started exporting to the United States in 2017 and has since expanded its export markets to the United States, Canada, Australia, and other countries. In 2024, it recorded export sales of 176,000 dollars (about 225 million won in Korean currency).
County Governor Kim Ki-woong said, "It is a very meaningful achievement that Moshi rice cake, a representative traditional food of Seocheon, has taken its first step into the Middle East market. We will continue to actively support the entry of local agricultural products into the global market to strengthen export competitiveness and do our best to contribute to revitalizing the local economy."
Meanwhile, Seocheon-gun is actively supporting the development of overseas markets for local agricultural products, including Moshi rice cake, through this export, and plans to further strengthen local marketing and promotional activities to secure global competitiveness for Seocheon agricultural products.
