Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik says, "I sincerely hope for the speedy recovery of Gangneung citizens' daily lives."

Bucheon City announced on the 2nd that it delivered relief supplies to its sister city, Gangneung, which suffered significant damage from a record-breaking drought on September 1. Bucheon City prepared and delivered about 2,000 2-liter bottles of water, which was directly handed over to Gangneung by Lee Ki-ik, Bucheon City's Head of Administrative Support.

Since signing a sister city agreement in 2004, Bucheon and Gangneung have continued to exchange in various fields, including purchasing and promoting agricultural and special products, mutual visits by delegations, discounts on tourism facility fees, and dispatching performance groups.

In July, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their sister city relationship, they jointly held a Gangneung-themed event at Hyundai Department Store Jungdong Branch, promoting practical cooperation in economy, tourism, and hometown love donation programs. Additionally, the city has maintained its warm friendship by providing relief funds and daily necessities when Gangneung was damaged by large-scale wildfires in 2019 and 2023.

This delivery of relief supplies is an extension of the long-standing trust and friendship between the two cities. They plan to continue mutual cooperation in times of crisis and further strengthen their exchange and solidarity.

Bucheon Mayor Cho Yong-ik said, "I extend my deepest condolences to the citizens of Gangneung who are suffering from drought damage. I hope this support will be of some help in overcoming the damage and sincerely wish for a swift return to peaceful daily life."
