Singaporean bowler Darren Ong won the PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) Viper Championship, becoming the first Singaporean to clinch a PBA Tour title.

Darren Ong defeated American powerhouse EJ Tackett 215-205 in the final, securing the championship trophy and a $20,000 prize. This victory is more than just personal glory; it holds significant meaning for Singapore and the entire Asian bowling community.

"I still can't believe it," Ong said with a voice filled with emotion. "As I went through the qualifiers and match play, it became more and more real, and I'm so happy to have finally won. I hope this achievement brings hope and inspiration to many bowlers in Singapore, Southeast Asia, and Asia. I wanted to show that we can compete too."

While Singaporean female bowlers have won multiple titles on the PWBA (Professional Women's Bowling Association) Tour, this is the first time a male bowler has won on the PBA Tour. Ong expressed his respect for his seniors, saying, "It's an honor to add the first male victory to the great achievements already made by the women's team. They showed us what's possible and inspired us greatly."
