The Korean Confucian Culture Institute (Acting President Lee Sang-gyun, hereinafter referred to as KICCI) announced that it signed a "University-Industry-Region Cooperation Educational Agreement" with Sungkyunkwan University (President Yoo Ji-bum, hereinafter referred to as SKKU) at the Solbium hall on the first floor of KICCI on Monday, October 12.
This agreement was prepared as part of the "2026 Chungcheong Confucian Network Establishment" project. Its core objective is to reflect the demands of local communities and industrial fields into university regular curricula to foster converged talents who will lead the modern utilization of Confucian culture.
Under the agreement, the three organizations agreed to cooperate on: ▲ Co-operating university-industry-region linked educational programs; ▲ Exchanges for advancing industry-university cooperation and creating best practices; and ▲ Mutual growth of the institutions.
In particular, the three organizations will pursue joint projects linked to SKKU’s Department of Confucian and Oriental Studies' regular project-type course, "Rediscovering Regional Culture and Philosophy: Capstone Design." SKKU's College of Confucian Studies and Anchor Project Group will establish a university-industry-region cooperative educational system to operate the curriculum. Based on its experience in Confucian culture education and research, KICCI will support the discovery of practical project topics and the execution of field assignments.
Through this, students will directly investigate and analyze regional Confucian cultural resources, explore methods for field application, and simultaneously develop their major knowledge and practical problem-solving capabilities. KICCI plans to actively reflect the creative ideas and outcomes derived from the curriculum into the institution’s educational and cultural content planning and regional linkage projects.
Lee Sang-gyun, Acting President of KICCI, stated, "This agreement is deeply significant in that specialized Confucian culture research institutions and universities have joined hands to build a practical cooperative model connecting education and the field," adding, "Based on the outcomes of the joint educational program, we will steadily discover follow-up projects so that the fruits of Confucian culture research can spread throughout the region and industries."
