The news was confirmed in an official statement posted on her Instagram account, revealing that she peacefully passed away on December 27th, surrounded by loved ones.   

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1951, Hussey's radiant beauty and undeniable talent propelled her to international stardom at a young age. Her role as Juliet, opposite Leonard Whiting as Romeo, captivated audiences worldwide and earned her a Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer - Female. The film’s timeless love story and her unforgettable performance cemented her place in cinematic history.   

Hussey had been battling cancer, according to the statement. Despite her illness, she continued to be a beloved figure in the entertainment industry. Her official Instagram post read, "On December 27th, Olivia Hussey-Iceley passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones. We are heartbroken to share this news..."
