Running through half, 10km, and 5km courses, the event comes to a successful close.

The 5th Cheonan Lee Bong-ju Marathon, held in Cheonan—the hometown of Korea's national marathoner Lee Bong-ju—wrapped up successfully on the 11th amid the passionate enthusiasm of runners from across the country.

Hosted by the Cheonan City Sports Council, the event featured three categories: a half-marathon, 10km, and 5km. Around 6,500 participants gathered from all over the nation to run energetically through the city center of Cheonan.

Category winners included Cho Woo-won in the men’s half-marathon and Yu Jeong-a in the women’s half-marathon, while Kim Dong-heon and Kim Ji-eun took first place in the men's and women's 10km divisions, respectively.

Focusing heavily on participant safety and smooth operations, the City Sports Council deployed medical staff and safety personnel at major intervals and enforced thorough traffic controls, successfully concluding the event without a single accident.

Designed to honor the challenging spirit of athlete Lee Bong-ju and expand the base of for-all sports, the tournament is establishing itself as a premier national marathon festival, growing in participation scale and quality every year.

Han Nam-gyo, President of the Cheonan City Sports Council, expressed his deep gratitude, saying, "I sincerely thank the marathoners and citizens from all over the country who joined us, as well as the volunteers and related organizations who worked hard for smooth operations." He added, "Moving forward, we will listen closely to the feedback of participants and supplement overall operations to develop this into a premier marathon representing South Korea."
