Luque, Paraguay - Today (Tuesday), the hot fervor of South American football gathered at the CONMEBOL headquarters in Luque, Paraguay. As the draw for the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana took place, prominent figures from South American football gathered, including Felipe Melo, who has lifted the Copa Libertadores trophy twice.

In an interview with Tigo Sports, Felipe Melo expressed deep respect for Paraguayan football, particularly revealing his affection for Olimpia. "If I had to pick a team to cheer for in Paraguay, I would always cheer for Olimpia. Matches against Olimpia have always fascinated me. The stadium was always full, and the fans cheered passionately," he said.

Melo has faced Olimpia several times in the Copa Libertadores in recent years. In 2022 and 2023, he experienced their fervent passion firsthand while playing against Olimpia for Palmeiras and Fluminense. "When asked about the toughest stadium, I would unhesitatingly say Defensores del Chaco. When Olimpia plays there, it's a very difficult battle for the opposing team," he added.

Felipe Melo's remarks are not mere lip service. He is genuinely impressed by Olimpia's history and the passion of their fans. Olimpia is one of the most successful clubs in Paraguay, having won the Copa Libertadores three times. Their home stadium, Defensores del Chaco, is renowned as one of the most vibrant stadiums in South America.

Felipe Melo's comments have sparked a heated reaction among Olimpia fans. On social media, welcome messages like "Melo, welcome to Olimpia!" flooded in. Fans were touched by his humility and respect for Olimpia, hoping to see him play in an Olimpia uniform one day.

Meanwhile, the fate of each team was determined by the results of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana draw held that day. Which teams will Olimpia face? Football fans around the world are focusing on the intense passion of South American football that will unfold.
