Lectures by scientists, science magic shows, etc., from the 23rd to the 24th… First-session participants currently being recruited

Sejong Special Self-Governing City (Mayor Cho Sang-ho) is hosting the Sejong Science Concert from October 23rd to 24th to enhance citizens' scientific literacy and lay the foundation for nurturing future science talents.

This event features special meetings with scientists, science magic performances, and hands-on programs designed to help citizens experience science easily and enjoyably in their daily lives, thereby boosting their interest and curiosity in science.

The first session will take place on the 23rd from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM in the Cultural Auditorium on the 1st floor of Building B of the Haemil-dong Community Center, where Lee Jeong-mo, director of the Penguin Science Museum, will deliver the opening lecture under the theme "Scientific Imagination, Curiosity Changes the World!"

This will be followed by a "Talk Battle with Field Scientists" featuring science communicator Dubu, Dr. Choo Yeon-seok from the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute, and Dr. Lee Bo-yeon from the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials, who will share vivid stories from research sites.

Applications for the first session can be submitted through the related website (answer.moaform.com/answers/EKpZzV).

The second session will be held on the 24th from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Festival Plaza of the National Sejong Arboretum, featuring a science magic performance themed "Unlocking Future Answers through Marvelous Magic," alongside a variety of programs such as assembling mini fortresses, making rubber-band-powered airplanes, and launching paper rockets.

Applications for the second session can be made on-site. While individuals must cover the National Sejong Arboretum admission fee themselves, Sejong citizens can enter at a 50% discounted price upon presenting their ID.

Kwon Oh-su, head of the Future Industry Division, said, "This will be a time where citizens can directly communicate with scientists and learn scientific principles easily and enjoyably through diverse science programs," adding, "We hope many citizens will participate with their families this autumn weekend to experience the joy of science."
