Daejeon City is launching the 'Multicultural Family Educational Activities Expense Support Project' in earnest to create a stable learning environment and bridge the academic gap for children from multicultural families.

With the increasing number of children from multicultural families and the growing need to address their educational difficulties and disparities, Daejeon City has been implementing this project in partnership with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family since last year. In particular, to ensure that children who do not have sufficient educational opportunities due to economic circumstances are not marginalized, the city has strengthened practical support by including out-of-school youth.

Eligible recipients are children aged 7 to 18 (grades 1 to 12) from multicultural families with a household income at or below 100% of the median income.

The support amounts are ▲400,000 KRW annually for elementary school students (ages 7-12), ▲500,000 KRW annually for middle school students (ages 13-15), and ▲600,000 KRW annually for high school students (ages 16-18). These funds can be used for various educational activities such as purchasing textbooks, online lectures, reading room access, and tuition for arts, sports, and vocational skills academies.

Applications will be accepted in two rounds: the first from May 2nd to May 30th and the second from July 1st to July 31st. Applicants can apply by visiting the family center in their child's registered residential district.
