Co-hosted by 30 organizations and groups within the province… About 1,800 residents participated Sharing the values of gender equality through diverse events such as special lectures and experiential programs

Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and the Jeonbuk Women and Family Foundation held the 「15th Gender Culture Festival」 at the KBS Jeonju Broadcasting Station on the 17th.

Celebrating its 15th year, the Gender Culture Festival was co-hosted by 30 women's, family, and university organizations and groups within the province under the slogan "The power to connect differences, Jeonbuk opening equality," bringing their intentions together.

The event was attended by major guests including Lee Ji-sung, Vice Governor for Administration of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, and Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Provincial Assembly members Nam Gwan-woo and Park Byung-chul, along with provincial residents. Including participants in the preliminary online quiz, a total of about 1,800 people united in spreading gender culture.

At this festival, special lectures to enhance understanding of gender equality in daily life and various experiential programs were operated, gaining enthusiastic responses from residents.

In the pre-opening ceremony event, Hwang Geum-myeong-ryun, representative of the Gender Justice Action GOMA, delivered a lecture under the theme of "Gender Sensitivity, Applying It to Daily Life." Following this, the opening ceremony began with a congratulatory performance by the 3-member popera group "Atti Classic."

Actor couple Jung Eun-pyo and Kim Ha-yan also shared sincere stories under the theme of "Happy Parenting, Happy Education, Happy Life," communicating with the attendees.

Around the event venue, experiential and promotional programs participated in by 30 organizations and groups unfolded. Various programs were prepared, including free international food tasting, key ring making, keycap decorating, tarot counseling for single women, exhibition and sales of outstanding women-owned enterprise products, family culture awareness improvement roulette games, and digital sexual violence OX quizzes.

A flea market with 7 booths operated by local small business owners added vibrancy to the event.

By unpacking various themes—such as understanding gender equality and gender, prevention of violence against women, prevention of digital sex crimes, child care, family policies, women's jobs, and climate justice—through experiences, quizzes, and campaigns, anyone of any age could easily and familiarly encounter the values of gender equality.

Participatory programs that children and families could enjoy together also drew attention. A sympathy playground where three generations could enjoy together—featuring random play dance held in the children's dance playground, family OX quizzes, and gender equality missions—was operated, allowing participants to naturally learn the values of gender equality through play and experience and spread them to the local community.

Lee Ji-sung, Vice Governor for Administration of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, stated, "Gender equality is an important foundation for the sustainable development of the local community and the happiness of all residents," adding, "We will make policy efforts to broaden residents' understanding and consensus on gender equality and allow them to experience gender equality in their daily lives."
