Cheonan City marked the 100-day countdown to the 2025 77th Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Sports Festival with a commemorative event on March 4th, pledging a successful and vibrant celebration of athletic achievement and community spirit.

The event, held at Cheonan City Hall's Bongseo Hall, drew a crowd of approximately 700 attendees, including Cheonan Mayor Park Sang-don, Cheonan City Sports Council President Han Nam-gyo, members of the sports festival preparation committee, and local residents.

The celebration featured a photo exhibition, a progress report on the festival preparations, a symbolic performance to wish for the event's success, the unveiling of a countdown clock, and celebratory performances.

Having last hosted the provincial sports festival in 2004, Cheonan City has been diligently preparing for the 2025 event. The city established a task force in May 2024 to oversee the preparations, which have included developing a basic plan, creating event symbols, securing approvals for competition venues, and establishing a promotional strategy.

Cheonan City has stated that they will continue to focus on improving the venue enviroments, making traffic and parking plans, and recruiting voulenteers.

Han Nam-gyo, president of the Cheonan City Sports Council, expressed his determination for the Cheonan team to achieve its fourth consecutive overall victory, following successes in Boryeong, Geumsan, and Seosan. "We will provide unwavering support to our athletes so they can surpass their limits and achieve their best results," he said.

Mayor Park Sang-don emphasized the city's commitment to creating a festival that goes beyond a mere sporting event, aiming to provide an enjoyable and inspiring experience for the 2.2 million residents of Chungcheongnam-do. "We ask for the continued interest and support of related organizations and citizens during the remaining 100 days," he stated.

The 77th Chungcheongnam-do Provincial Sports Festival, organized by the Chungcheongnam-do Sports Council and hosted by the Cheonan City Sports Council and Chungcheongnam-do member sports organizations, will take place from June 12th to 15th at Cheonan Sports Complex and various other venues across the city. The event is sponsored by Chungcheongnam-do Province, Cheonan City, and the Chungcheongnam-do Office of Education.
