SEOUL – Samsung Electronics has once again redefined the ceiling for the premium smartphone market. On March 6, 2026, the tech giant announced that its latest flagship lineup, the Galaxy S26 Series, officially clocked 1.35 million units in domestic pre-orders, setting a new all-time high for the Galaxy S franchise.

The pre-order window, which ran for seven days from February 27 to March 5, saw a massive surge in demand that outpaced the previous record-holder, the Galaxy S25 series. Despite the S25's impressive 1.30 million units over an 11-day period, the S26 series managed to exceed that figure by 50,000 units in a significantly shorter timeframe.

The "Ultra" Dominance and Hardware Innovations
The standout performer of this launch is undoubtedly the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which accounted for approximately 70% of all pre-order sales. This model alone broke individual records for the Ultra tier, driven by a suite of industry-leading features:

-Privacy Display: A mobile-first technology designed to shield on-screen information from side-viewers.
-Next-Gen Performance: Powered by the latest application processor (AP) optimized for high-intensity tasks.
-Professional Optics: A 200-megapixel wide-angle lens that delivers professional-grade photography.

A particular highlight gaining viral traction on social media is the upgraded "Super Steady" video stabilization. The new "Horizon Lock" option allows the camera to maintain a perfectly level frame even during 360-degree rotations or intense physical movement, making it a favorite for content creators.

The Rise of the "3rd Generation AI Phone"
Positioned as a "3rd Generation AI Phone," the S26 series integrates intuitive Galaxy AI experiences with hardware upgrades. Consumers have lauded the "Nightography" enhancements, which utilize AI to deliver crisp, noise-free images in near-total darkness.

In terms of aesthetics, consumer preferences were clear:

-S26 Ultra & Standard S26: White and Black remained the top choices.
-S26 Plus: Black and Cobalt Violet led the pack.
-Exclusive Colors: Pink Gold and Silver Shadow (available via Samsung.com and Samsung Gangnam) saw high engagement.

A Shift in Ownership: The "New Galaxy AI Subscription Club"
Samsung's marketing strategy played a pivotal role in this record-breaking success. More than 30% of customers who purchased via Samsung.com opted for the "New Galaxy AI Subscription Club."

This subscription-based model was bolstered by the "Double Storage" promotion, which upgraded 256GB buyers to 512GB for free. The subscription club also guarantees a 50% buy-back value of the 512GB model after one year, significantly lowering the barrier to entry for early adopters.

"The combination of the Double Storage benefit and the security of the Subscription Club—which now includes coverage for cyber-financial crimes and internet fraud—has resonated deeply with our security-conscious consumers," a Samsung representative stated.
The new 3-year protection plan now covers not only device damage but also loss (theft/misplacement) and scam protection, marking a holistic shift in how Samsung supports its ecosystem users.
