Hwasun-gun, South Korea — Boxer Lim Ae-ji of the Hwasun-gun County Office boxing team has made history for South Korean women's boxing. She secured a bronze medal in the women's 54kg division at the 2025 World Boxing Championships, held in Liverpool, UK, from September 4th to 14th.

In the quarterfinals, Lim defeated Brazil's Tatiana Regina de Jesus Chagas with a decisive 5-0 victory. However, she was defeated in the semifinals by Huang Hsiao-wen of Taiwan, earning a hard-fought bronze.

This achievement marks a significant milestone for Lim, who also medaled at the 2024 Paris Olympics. With her podium finishes at both the Olympics and the World Championships, she is the first female South Korean boxer to medal in both major international competitions.

Gu Bok-gyu, the mayor of Hwasun-gun County, extended his congratulations, stating, "I sincerely congratulate Lim Ae-ji on becoming the first female South Korean boxer to win medals at both the Olympics and the World Championships. This accomplishment is the result of her endless hard work and dedication. We will continue to actively support the Hwasun-gun County Office boxing team so they can further elevate the status of Korean boxing."
