Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 6th that it has signed a contract worth approximately 290 billion won to supply Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitors (MLCCs) for artificial intelligence (AI) servers to a major global enterprise.

The contract period spans one year, from January 1 to December 31 of next year. This marks the company's 6th long-term supply agreement (LTA) based on disclosures this year.

MLCCs supplied by Samsung Electro-Mechanics are core components that store electricity and supply it stably to semiconductors to ensure smooth operation while preventing signal interference between components. In particular, MLCCs for AI servers require both high capacitance and high reliability to withstand 24-hour operation in high-temperature and high-voltage environments.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics explained that it is responding to growing demand from global customers based on its technological capabilities to achieve the high capacitance and reliability required for AI server MLCCs, alongside stable production capacity.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has already signed MLCC LTAs with multiple global enterprises and plans to actively pursue additional supply contracts currently under discussion with various global companies.

According to Goldman Sachs, the market size for AI server MLCCs is projected to grow at an average annual rate of about 34%, from 1.4 billion dollars (1.9 trillion won) in 2025 to 5.8 billion dollars (8 trillion won) in 2030. Samsung Electro-Mechanics maintains its top-tier global position, securing a market share of over 40% in the AI server MLCC market.

From May of this year to the present, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has successively signed long-term supply contracts totaling approximately 3.9 trillion won (based on disclosures) for silicon capacitors, AI server MLCCs, and inductors.

An official from Samsung Electro-Mechanics stated, "Based on our differentiated technological prowess and stable supply capabilities, we will expand the proportion of AI-focused MLCC products and further strengthen our global market competitiveness."
