Chile's Family Subsidy Program Offers Financial Relief to Low-Income Families

Santiago, Chile – The Chilean government has implemented a family subsidy program aimed at providing financial support to low-income households. This monthly cash transfer is designed to alleviate the burden of raising children for parents or guardians in the bottom 60% of the income distribution.

Key Features of the Family Subsidy

Eligibility: Parents or guardians of children in households with incomes falling within the bottom 60% of the income distribution.
Amount: 21,243 Chilean pesos per child per month (42,486 pesos for children with disabilities).
Duration: Up to three years, with the possibility of extension if certain conditions are met.

How to Apply To apply for the family subsidy, individuals must visit their local municipal office and provide the following documents:

Child's birth certificate
Health records for children under six years old
Proof of enrollment for children over six years old
Applicant's identification
Proof of guardianship (if applicable)
Checking Payment Dates The payment date for the family subsidy can be verified by entering the RUT number on the ChileAtiende website.

Types of Family Subsidies

Regular Family Subsidy: This is applied for through the standard application process.
Automatic Family Subsidy: This is automatically granted to households in the bottom 40% of the income distribution.
