Dongbu Construction (KRW 4,150, down KRW 25 or 0.60%) announced on the 7th that it won the top prize (Excellence Award), the first place, at the Drone-Utilizing Construction Safety Innovation Contest held on the 29th of last month by the Cheonan Branch of the Daejeon Regional Employment and Labor Administration. The contest took place at the Korea University of Technology and Education's Human Resources Development Education Center in Cheonan.

This contest was organized to discover best practices in construction safety management by construction companies utilizing drones and other technologies at construction sites, to expand the base for using smart safety equipment for industrial accident prevention, and to encourage the reduction of major accidents. A total of seven teams from five construction companies, including Dongbu Construction, participated in the contest, presenting their respective cases.

Dongbu Construction presented its utilization and operational cases under the theme of smart safety prevention activities utilizing drones at the construction site of the ongoing National Football Training Center construction project. Dongbu Construction showcased examples such as conducting frequent safety patrols by flying drones over the site and broadcasting safety regulations compliance and corrective action instructions to on-site workers. Notably, it explained that the broadcasts are highly versatile for workers of various nationalities as they can be delivered not only in Korean but also in foreign languages.

Safety prevention activities utilizing a drone data platform were also introduced. Dongbu Construction is implementing various prevention activities and site management, such as blind spot safety inspections, flood-prone area pre-prevention, and worker location identification through the platform. In addition, it presented preventive measure activities using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to identify high-risk areas and proactively prepare for risks, safety education utilizing communication channels, and the use of fluorescent vests for on-site safety management.

Dongbu Construction received high scores in various evaluation categories, including creativity and proactiveness. Dongbu Construction stated that after holding a demonstration in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labor in March on the theme of safety supervision and inspection using drones, winning this award at the recent contest has once again acknowledged the excellence of its smart safety management.

An official from Dongbu Construction stated, "Safety management utilizing drones and smart platforms is not just about applying technology; it holds great significance in securing practical safety at the site and strengthening a worker-centered management system. We will continue to further enhance our smart safety management capabilities to prevent major accidents."
