2025 Siheung Breaking Battle: A Fierce Showdown of World-Class B-Boys Anticipated

On Sunday, June 8th, at 5:00 PM, the area around Eun-gye Lake Park in Siheung City is set to ignite with the passion of the world's top B-Boys. Hosted by Siheung City, the "2025 Siheung Breaking Battle," now in its 4th year, promises a festival of high-level competition featuring leading Korean B-Boy crews and diverse cultural experience programs for citizens. With breaking officially adopted as a sport for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games, public interest has surged. This competition is expected to be more than just a battle; it will serve as a significant opportunity to expand the reach of breaking culture.

 
Intense Competition Among World-Class Crews

The "2025 Siheung Breaking Battle" will feature eight B-Boy crews renowned not only in Korea but globally, engaging in a fiery display of skill. The lineup is spectacular. 20th Century B-Boys is known as a veteran crew that adheres to traditional breaking styles while constantly attempting new approaches. Rivers Crew is praised for captivating audiences with powerful and dynamic moves, with each member showcasing distinct individuality.

Jinjo Crew is a representative South Korean crew that has elevated breaking's global status, boasting numerous international competition victories. Through continuous research and practice, they develop original techniques and performances, leading trends in the breaking scene. Gamblerz Crew is also a top-tier crew recognized internationally, with their overwhelming technical prowess and seasoned battle strategies being their strengths. They have forged a unique style with powerful yet fluid movements.

Oneway Crew is a notable emerging crew, driven by youthful energy and fresh ideas. They are generating anticipation among fans with creative moves and performances that break conventional molds. Break Hertz has firmly established its unique style through sensible music interpretation and distinctive flair, while Wild Crew is known for dominating stages with intense and unbridrained energy. Finally, Cay Crew is expected to leave a deep impression on the audience with their delicate yet powerful breaking.

With world-class crews gathering to showcase their best skills, the event promises an unforgettable experience for breaking fans and the general public alike.

 
Total Prize Money of ₩9.65 Million: Motivation for a Fierce Contest

The "2025 Siheung Breaking Battle" is offering a total prize pool of ₩9.65 million, signaling an intense competition. The winning team will receive ₩4 million, the runner-up ₩2 million, and two teams in joint third place will each be awarded ₩1 million. Four "Best 8" teams will each receive ₩650,000. Additionally, a single MVP who demonstrates outstanding skill and stage presence will be awarded ₩1 million. This generous prize money is expected to motivate participating teams to perform at their peak, further intensifying the excitement of the competition.

 
A Celebration of Breaking Culture: Citizen Participation Programs and Special Performances

Before the main breaking battle, various programs will run from 1:00 PM, allowing citizens to directly experience and enjoy breaking culture. DJing experiences will deepen understanding of beats, which are central to breaking music, while tattoo experiences will allow participants to feel the symbolism of hip-hop culture. Hat making will offer a chance for self-expression, and a fan signing event with the participating crews will provide an opportunity to interact directly with world-renowned B-Boys and fulfill fan aspirations.

Furthermore, special celebratory performances by dancer Poppin' Hyun Joon and gugak musician Park Ae-ri are set to heighten the festive atmosphere. Poppin' Hyun Joon, a master of popping dance in Korea, will undoubtedly further ignite the breaking battle's energy with his unique performances. Gugak musician Park Ae-ri is expected to offer a unique delight to the audience by reinterpreting the beauty of traditional music with a modern sensibility. These diverse programs are designed to draw even citizens unfamiliar with breaking into the excitement of the festival, creating a truly inclusive "cultural festival for all."

 
Siheung City Infuses Local Vitality Through Breaking

Mayor Lim Byeong-taek of Siheung City once again emphasized the heightened domestic and international interest and popularity of breaking, following its adoption as an official sport for the 2024 Paris Olympics and the 2026 Nagoya Asian Games. He stated, "As world-class B-Boys gather in Siheung, I hope many citizens will enjoy breaking culture together and that it will bring vitality to the region." Through the "2025 Siheung Breaking Battle," Siheung City aims to expand opportunities for enjoying street culture, including breaking, and contribute to branding Siheung as a vibrant cultural city brimming with youth and energy.

Breaking is more than just a dance; it is a culture, an art form, and a sport. The dynamic movements, original techniques, and teamwork that combine to create breaking's appeal have already captivated the world. The "2025 Siheung Breaking Battle" is an excellent opportunity to experience the essence of breaking and will be a meaningful event for Siheung City to infuse new vitality into its citizens through culture and art.
