INCHEON – Incheon Metropolitan City hosted a special event on Thursday to mark the 75th anniversary of the historic Incheon Landing Operation. The ceremony, titled "Let's Ride: Maritime Wreath Laying & Palmi-do Sailing Experience," brought together more than 500 people to honor the sacrifice of veterans and reflect on the operation's historical significance.

The event, co-hosted by Incheon City and the Republic of Korea Navy, took place aboard the large transport ship LPH Marado-ham. Participants, including Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, U.S. generals, defense attachés from UN-participating nations, and members of the Western Australia Naval Association, sailed toward the Palmi-do area, where the operation's first signal was given.

Throughout the journey, historical narrators provided detailed commentary on the strategic importance of the operation and the historical value of the Palmi-do lighthouse. Attendees were encouraged to reflect on the unwavering dedication and sacrifice of the soldiers who participated in the pivotal battle.

The sailing culminated in a solemn maritime wreath-laying ceremony off the coast of Palmi-do. As representatives laid wreaths on the water, the flowers scattered across the surface, symbolizing the lives and sacrifices of those who fought. From the deck of the warship, the 500 attendees, both local and international, paid their respects, remembering that today's freedom and peace were built on the profound dedication of the veterans.

In his memorial address, Mayor Yoo said, "Palmi-do is the historical site where the first signal of the Incheon Landing Operation rang out. I hope that through this sailing experience and maritime tribute, we can remember the sacrifices of our national heroes and deeply feel the value of peace and security."
