Daejeon City announced that it held the '2025 Local Administration and Public Security Administration Related Agencies Cooperation Workshop' on Tuesday, July 8, at Hotel Sunshine in Dong-gu.
This workshop was prepared to promote substantial progress in local police affairs, aiming to strengthen the cooperation system among related agencies, focusing on practical tasks such as crime prevention, traffic safety, and protection of the socially vulnerable.
The event was attended by approximately 150 people, including representatives from Daejeon City, Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency, Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, five autonomous districts, mental health welfare centers, and police cooperation organizations such as volunteer crime prevention patrols and senior public security guardians.
Participants focused on six areas of local police affairs: crime prevention environmental design, local safety patrols, suicide prevention, traffic fatality accidents, abuse prevention, and school violence prevention. They engaged in expert lectures, best practice presentations, and facilitation-based group discussions to enhance practical capabilities and collectively seek field-oriented policy linkage methods.
Park Hee-yong, Chairman of the Daejeon City Local Police Committee, stated, "Local police affairs are not just the work of a specific agency but a joint task that local autonomy and public security must solve together. We hope this workshop serves as an opportunity for field practitioners to share their experiences and promote inter-agency collaboration, further enhancing citizen safety and trust."
Daejeon City plans to compile the best practices and actionable policy ideas derived from this workshop into a performance data collection, which will be produced and distributed in the second half of this year. This collection will be shared with relevant departments in the city hall and autonomous districts, police, education offices, and private cooperation organizations to be used as reference material for future policy formulation and to continuously strengthen the information-sharing system between agencies.
