Seoul, South Korea – The Seoul Metropolitan Government has announced the official launch of the 'Dongdaemun K-Fashion Brand Development' project, aimed at revitalizing the Dongdaemun fashion district. This initiative follows a successful pilot program last year and seeks to address the challenges posed by evolving consumer trends and the influx of low-cost Chinese raw materials.

The project will support 90 companies, including 50 wholesale merchants and 40 designers from Dongdaemun, all of whom possess design experience. The application period is open until the 17th of this month, and interested parties can download application forms from the Seoul Metropolitan Government website (www.seoul.go.kr) and the Seoul Fashion Hub website (www.sfhub.or.kr).

Selected participants will receive comprehensive support, including:

Branding launch and reinforcement coaching
Prototype production assistance
Promotion and sales through partnerships with influential sellers
Participation in domestic and international buyer invitation order exhibitions
A key highlight of the project is the opportunity for participants to engage in order consultations with approximately 80 major buyers from China, Japan, Southeast Asia, and leading domestic retailers such as Lotte and Hyundai Department Stores.

Furthermore, the city will host the 'Dongdaemun K-Fashion Order Exhibition' at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) from April 25th to May 8th. This 45-day event will provide a platform for merchants and designers to showcase their creations and receive expert brand coaching.

Joo Yong-tae, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Economic Office, emphasized the global potential of Dongdaemun fashion, stating, "Dongdaemun fashion continues to demonstrate strong growth potential in the global market, thanks to its domestic manufacturing strengths, innovative designs, and superior quality. We encourage the participation of all competitive Dongdaemun fashion merchants and designers."

This project represents a significant effort by the Seoul Metropolitan Government to bolster the Dongdaemun fashion district and enhance its competitiveness in the global market.
