Anseong City is ramping up the festive atmosphere by recruiting teams for the "Street Parade," the highlight of the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival, a representative traditional arts festival of Korea, which will be held this October. This year's Street Parade is designed with the theme of "Traditional Parade with Fairy Tales," aiming to offer richer and more diverse attractions to citizens and tourists by adding a fairy tale imagination to the beauty of traditional art. Applications for participation will be accepted for approximately two weeks, from June 16 to June 30.

Parade Overview: A Fairy Tale World Unfolds on Anseong Streets

The Street Parade will majestically unfold on October 8th at 2 PM in the Ayang-dong area of Anseong City (from the old Saebyeok Market, past Anseong Agricultural & Livestock Food Mart, to Naehyehol Plaza). Various pre-parade events, such as a green market, street vendors, and experience booths, will be set up to heighten the festive mood. The main parade will proceed as a street performance, and it is expected to provide unforgettable memories to the audience with each team's unique costumes and performances, along with fresh productions that blend fairy tales and tradition. The Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival is the only festival that inherits the wandering art of the Namsadang troupe from the late Joseon Dynasty. It commemorates Baudeogi's artistic spirit and showcases various performances by the Namsadang troupe, attracting countless tourists to Anseong every year. In particular, the Street Parade has established itself as an important program that signals the start of the festival and encourages citizen participation.

Eligibility and Support: Everyone with Passion and Imagination is Welcome!

This Street Parade is open to anyone with passion and imagination, including groups and clubs, regardless of region, age, or gender. Anseong City plans to provide exceptional support to participating teams for a successful parade. Selected teams will receive actual expenses of 30,000 won per person (up to 60 people per team, maximum 1.8 million won) and material costs of approximately 1.5 million won per team. This aims to alleviate the financial burden on participating teams for producing parade costumes, props, and devices, and to help them plan more creative and polished performances.

Additionally, a pre-parade mentoring program by experts will be provided to enhance the overall quality of the parade. Mentoring will cover various aspects, including parade composition, choreography, costume design, and direction, allowing participating teams to acquire professional know-how and further concretize their ideas. This support not only encourages participation but also demonstrates Anseong City's commitment to elevating the Street Parade into a work of art.

Awards and Special Benefits: A Stage of Glory and Generous Rewards

Outstanding teams in the Street Parade will receive generous prize money and special opportunities. Awards will be determined through on-site evaluations by assessment committees and citizen judges, with a total of four teams selected as outstanding teams.

Grand Prize: 5 million won
Gold Prize: 3 million won
Silver Prize: 2 million won
Bronze Prize: 1 million won
In addition to the prize money, outstanding teams will have the honorable opportunity to participate in the official opening ceremony parade of the Baudeogi Festival. This will be a special stage to showcase their skills once again at the highlight of the festival, providing an unforgettable experience and pride to the participating teams.

How to Apply: Easily and Conveniently Online!

To apply for the Street Parade, check the announcement on the "Notices" board of the Anseong City Hall website, then submit the required documents, including the application form, via email. Detailed information can be found on the Anseong City website. It is hoped that with the active participation of passionate citizens and organizations, the 2024 Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival Street Parade will be remembered as an even richer and more successful event.

Anseong City anticipates that this Street Parade will enable citizens to participate as protagonists of the festival, promote the revitalization of the local community, and further develop the Anseong Namsadang Baudeogi Festival. The fantastic parade, where fairy tales and tradition harmonize, is expected to make Anseong's autumn nights shine even brighter.
