[GLOBAL ECONOMIC TIMES] Netflix announced on the 29th that it is introducing a ‘bookmark’ function that allows users to easily save and immediately share desired scenes while watching content on mobile applications.
For example, while watching Season 3 of <Bridgerton>, a popular drama depicting the 19th century British aristocracy, users can separately register a scene where the main characters Penelope and Colin confirm their feelings for each other. When you click the ‘Bookmark Scene Tab’ at the bottom of the screen, the scene is automatically saved to ‘My Netflix Tab’.
Using the new feature, you can rewatch your favorite scenes anytime on Netflix Mobile. When you play the episode again, it starts from the saved scene. From the My Netflix tab, you can also share your favorite scenes and timestamps on social networking services (SNS) such as Instagram and Facebook. This feature will be gradually applied in ioS, the iPhone operating system. It is scheduled to expand to Android within next month.
The company said, “It is meaningful in that Netflix content has become an important topic of conversation in everyday life, and key scenes reflect the social trend of being loved as ‘memes (images or expressions popular online).’”
Netflix said it is continuously investing in infrastructure feature updates that allow users to enjoy content more conveniently and immersively. A Netflix official said, “We plan to introduce a more advanced, personalized viewing experience along with the expansion of the bookmark function that enables ‘sharing the joy’, which is one of the special elements of content.”
