In commemoration of the '2025 Asan Visit Year' and to invigorate tourism at the Oeam Folk Village, Asan City, South Chungcheong Province, has been garnering significant positive responses by offering free admission to visitors wearing Hanbok since February. This initiative aims to encourage citizens to embrace traditional Korean attire while showcasing the historical beauty of the Oeam Folk Village and providing visitors with a unique cultural experience.

Specifically, the city plans to enhance various Hanbok experience programs in connection with the 'Ibeobwayu' Hanbok rental shop located within the village, thereby supporting visitors in having a richer and more enjoyable time. The free admission benefit applies to both traditional Hanbok and modernized everyday Hanbok, provided that the wearer is properly attired with both a top (Jeogori) and bottom (Chima or Baji). It is important to note that wearing only a Durumagi (outer coat) will not be considered as wearing Hanbok for the purpose of free entry.

Asan City anticipates that this free admission policy will offer visitors a special opportunity to stroll along the serene stone walls dressed in elegant Hanbok and fully immerse themselves in the ambiance of traditional Joseon Dynasty aristocratic residences. This goes beyond mere sightseeing, providing a meaningful chance to directly experience and understand Korea's traditional culture.

Living Joseon Dynasty: The Charm of Oeam Folk Village

Nestled at the foot of Seolhwa Mountain, the Oeam Folk Village is a 500-year-old Bancheon (traditional noble clan village) that well preserves Joseon Dynasty aristocratic houses, stone-paved paths, and beautiful traditional gardens. Designated as Important Folk Cultural Heritage No. 236, this village is a clan settlement of the Yean Yi family, showcasing the lifestyle of the gentry in the past through harmoniously arranged old mansions and quaint thatched-roof houses, creating a picturesque landscape.

Walking along the village paths, the ancient stone walls and the classic houses visible beyond them evoke the sensation of stepping back in time. Each house boasts a unique structure and beautiful garden, holding significant architectural and landscaping value. Various historic residences such as the Champandaek (Minister's House), Yeongam Gunsu Daek (Magistrate's House of Yeongam), and Jongson Daek (Head Family House) each hold their own stories, while the meticulously cultivated gardens allow visitors to appreciate the refined tastes and leisure of the Joseon gentry.

Furthermore, the Oeam Folk Village preserves traditional agricultural culture, with watermills, grindstones, and treadmills found throughout the village. Diverse seasonal rural experience programs offer visitors unique enjoyment, and various cultural events such as traditional weddings and traditional food making are held, providing a wealth of attractions and activities.

Linked with 'Ibeobwayu' Hanbok Experience Center, Offering Special Memories

In conjunction with the free admission policy, Asan City plans to actively utilize the 'Ibeobwayu' Hanbok experience center within the Oeam Folk Village to offer visitors even more special experiences. At 'Ibeobwayu', visitors can rent beautiful Hanbok in various designs and colors, receiving friendly assistance from professional staff to select and wear the Hanbok that best suits them.

Wearing Hanbok and exploring the village is another delight of visiting the Oeam Folk Village. Posing for photos against the backdrop of traditional houses in elegant Hanbok creates unforgettable memories, offering a special experience as if stepping into a scene from the Joseon Dynasty. Especially, strolling through the village with loved ones, family, or friends dressed in Hanbok and capturing these moments in photographs will be a truly meaningful time.

Asan City: "Expanding Opportunities to Enjoy Traditional Culture and Injecting Vitality into Tourist Attractions"

An official from Asan City stated, "We hope that this Hanbok free admission policy will be a good opportunity for many citizens and tourists to enjoy the traditional culture of Oeam Folk Village more pleasantly while wearing beautiful Hanbok. We plan to prepare even more diverse and enriching policies and programs to widely promote the charm of Oeam Folk Village and successfully lead the '2025 Asan Visit Year'."

This initiative is expected to contribute significantly not only to attracting tourists but also to fostering a sense of pride in Korean traditional culture among citizens and establishing Oeam Folk Village as a vibrant cultural tourism destination and a living historical education site. Asan City will continue to develop diverse content that preserves the historical and cultural value of Oeam Folk Village while adding a modern touch, providing unforgettable impressions and memories to domestic and international tourists.

Spending a special time in the Oeam Folk Village, dressed in beautiful Hanbok amidst the harmonious blend of stunning nature, serene traditional houses, and diverse cultural experiences, will be one of the best ways to celebrate the '2025 Asan Visit Year'.
