SEOUL – Netflix has officially declared 2026 as a landmark year for Korean content, unveiling a massive slate of upcoming titles at the "Next on Netflix 2026 Korea" showcase held in Yeouido, Seoul, on Wednesday.

Don Kang, Vice President of Korean Content at Netflix, highlighted the meteoric rise of K-content, noting that 210 Korean titles have reached the Global Top 10 in the last five years. "Korean-language content has become the most beloved globally after English-language content," Kang stated. "Netflix aims to be a sustainable partner, building a long-term industrial structure that matches our growing influence."

Key Highlights of the 2026 Slate
The 2026 lineup spans diverse genres, from heart-fluttering romances to high-stakes thrillers and innovative unscripted variety shows.

1. Romance & Reality: "Awakening Love Cells"
Netflix continues to dominate the romance genre with highly anticipated series:

Can This Love Be Translated?: A multilingual romance between an interpreter and a global superstar.
Monthly Boyfriend: A unique premise involving a virtual dating simulation subscription.
Single’s Inferno (Season 5): The hit dating reality show returns for a historic fifth season.
Other notable titles: Such a Lousy Love, Charge Me Up, and I’m a Solo-ist but I Want to Date (Season 2).

2. Cinematic Depth & Gripping Dramas
Several "masterpiece" projects featuring legendary creators and actors are set to debut:

Possible Love: A new film by acclaimed director Lee Chang-dong, starring Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Jo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong.
Slowly but Intensely: A collaboration between writer Noh Hee-kyung and director Lee Yoon-jung, starring Song Hye-kyo and Gong Yoo.
Culinary Class Wars (Season 3): Following the global "Black and White" fever, the cooking survival show returns.
Thrilling Series: The Boy in the Last Row, Scandal (a Joseon-era period drama), and the thriller Field Mouse.

3. High-Octane Action & Thrills
For fans of adrenaline, Netflix is bringing back proven hits and fresh concepts:

Bloodhounds (Season 2): The return of the high-impact boxing action series.
Agents of Mystery (Season 2) and The Devil’s Plan (Season 3): New installments from mastermind PD Jung Jong-yeon.
True Education: A cathartic series focusing on a "School Rights Protection Agency."
Road (Working Title): A cross-border serial killer chase directed by Han Jun-hee (D.P.).
4. Laughter & Innovative Variety
Yoo Jae-suk Camp: A cozy yet chaotic camp-themed talk/variety show featuring Yoo Jae-suk, Lee Kwang-soo, Byeon Woo-seok, and Ji Ye-eun.
Lee Seo-jin’s Dalla Dalla: A raw travelogue of Lee Seo-jin’s wanderings in the U.S. with PD Na Young-seok.
Husbands: A comedy-action film where an ex-husband and current husband team up to save their kidnapped wife.

A Global Bridge
In addition to K-content, Netflix confirmed that 2026 will feature massive global IPs, including:

Bridgerton (Season 4): Featuring Korean actress Yerin Ha.
Beef (Season 2): Adding powerhouse names like Song Kang-ho and Youn Yuh-jung.
One Piece (Season 2), Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, and Greta Gerwig’s The Chronicles of Narnia.
The 2026 lineup reinforces Netflix's strategy to blend local Korean storytelling with global production scale, ensuring that the "K-wave" continues to evolve into a permanent fixture of global entertainment.
