Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H), a leading global hotel chain, has announced its collaboration with the Scalesciani family, owners of Palacio Duhau - Park Hyatt Buenos Aires, and the David family, entrepreneurs from Mendoza, to build a new luxury hotel, ‘Casa Duhau,’ in Mendoza, Argentina.

The new hotel, featuring 52 villas and suites, will be the only hotel in Argentina under Hyatt’s ‘The Unbound Collection by Hyatt’ brand. Casa Duhau will be part of ‘Reserva Alto Agrelo,’ a new development project spanning approximately 1,000 acres, which will also include a premium winery and 116 high-end residential lots. Construction of the hotel is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with an anticipated opening in late 2027.

Casa Duhau, which will join Hyatt’s luxury portfolio, will be located in the Alto Agrelo region of Mendoza Province, a globally significant wine-producing area. The location offers excellent accessibility, situated approximately 30 minutes from downtown Mendoza and about 35 minutes from El Plumerillo International Airport.

The Reserva Alto Agrelo development project, surrounded by approximately 100 acres of vineyards and orchards, will feature ‘Bodega Agrelia,’ a premium boutique winery with the participation of world-renowned winemaking experts Michel Rolland and Marcelo Pelleriti, and ‘Casa David – Wine & Horses,’ an exclusive equestrian club. Casa David – Wine & Horses will be equipped with top-tier facilities, including an advanced veterinary clinic and horse training center, 24 stables, and a state-of-the-art laboratory.

Cristiano Goncalves, Hyatt’s Vice President of Development for South America and the Caribbean, stated, “We are extremely proud to expand our relationship with the Scalesciani family and collaborate with the David family to introduce The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand to Argentina through this highly anticipated luxury hotel project.” He added, “The Unbound Collection by Hyatt invites guests to discover unforgettable places, unlocking a world of wonder. Casa Duhau will offer exactly that experience to our guests and World of Hyatt members.”

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt is a curated selection of distinctive hotels, each with its own unique story worth collecting. Whether it’s a modern architectural marvel, a historic gem, or a revitalizing retreat, each luxury hotel provides an inspiring backdrop and immersive experiences for travelers seeking sophisticated service. Boasting panoramic views of the Cordón del Plata mountain range in Mendoza and Tupungato, a dormant volcano on the Argentina-Chile border, Casa Duhau is expected to be an inspiring sanctuary for a variety of activities, including unforgettable horseback riding adventures, mountain biking, and sunset campfires.

Mendoza Region: Located in western Argentina, Mendoza is renowned globally as a wine-producing region thanks to its fertile soil and pure water flowing from the Andes Mountains. Particularly famous for its Malbec varietal, the region is also a popular tourist destination due to its beautiful natural landscapes and diverse outdoor activities. Alto Agrelo is considered a prime wine-producing area within Mendoza.

The Unbound Collection by Hyatt: Hyatt’s independent luxury hotel brand, where each hotel possesses a unique personality and story. The collection includes hotels ranging from historic buildings to modern designs, all offering exceptional experiences and aiming to create unforgettable memories for travelers. Currently, there are various concept hotels around the world within this collection.

Michel Rolland and Marcelo Pelleriti: Michel Rolland is a world-renowned French wine consultant and winemaker who has collaborated with numerous prestigious wineries. Marcelo Pelleriti is one of Argentina’s leading winemaking experts, producing high-quality wines that have earned international recognition. Their collaboration raises expectations for the quality of Bodega Agrelia wines.

Equestrian Club: Casa David – Wine & Horses is planned to be a luxurious club that goes beyond simple equestrian facilities, equipped with state-of-the-art amenities for horse health and training. This will be an attractive element for guests seeking special experiences against the backdrop of Mendoza’s beautiful natural environment.

Real Estate Development: The Reserva Alto Agrelo project includes not only the hotel but also the development of high-end residential lots, offering opportunities for those seeking a special lifestyle in a beautiful natural setting. This is also expected to contribute to the revitalization of the local economy.

Hyatt’s entry into Mendoza and the construction plan for Casa Duhau are expected to inject new vitality into Argentina’s luxury hotel market. The combination of the region’s status as a world-renowned wine producer and Hyatt’s luxury brand image is particularly appealing to wine enthusiasts and travelers seeking unique experiences.

Furthermore, the mixed-use development project, including the winery and the exclusive equestrian club, is projected to offer more than just accommodation, providing a special space where guests can fully enjoy the nature and culture of Mendoza. The collaboration between Hyatt, the Scalesciani family, and the David family suggests that Casa Duhau has the potential to become a new landmark in Mendoza, and its progress will be closely watched.
