Luang Prabang, Laos – Kwon Soon Young, better known as Hoshi, a member of the popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN, has made a generous donation of USD 70,000 to improve educational facilities at the Orphanage Secondary School in Luang Prabang.
The donation, facilitated by the Northern Division of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, will be used to construct new classrooms, a girls’ dormitory, and a kitchen. These improvements aim to provide a safer and healthier learning environment for over 500 students.
The project will also include specialized classrooms for Korean, English, and computer studies. These facilities will equip students with essential skills for higher education and future career opportunities.
A ceremony was held on December 4th at the school to commemorate the donation. Hoshi’s parents, local education officials, and approximately 100 students attended the event. As a token of their appreciation, students performed a traditional Lao dance and sang the Korean song “Spring in My Hometown.”
