Gyeongsangnam-do Province announced on the 4th that it will begin its electric vehicle (EV) supply project earlier than usual this year, starting in early this month.
This year's EV supply will increase by 180% compared to last year, with a total of 18,000 vehicles. This includes 12,000 passenger cars, 4,000 cargo trucks, 200 buses, and 1,000 motorcycles.
Subsidies will be applied differently for each vehicle type in accordance with the Ministry of Environment's "Electric Vehicle Supply Project Subsidy Work Processing Guidelines."
This year's EV supply project subsidy guidelines have been revised to support vehicles with enhanced safety and performance.
Vehicles equipped with battery charging information provision and parking abnormality detection/notification functions will receive higher subsidies.
Young people (aged 19 to 34) who purchase their first car as an electric passenger car will receive an additional 20% subsidy from the national treasury. Multi-child households will receive up to 3 million won depending on the number of children.
Electric cargo trucks will receive an additional 10% subsidy for small business owners, low-income families, and farmers, who are the main buyers, to alleviate the purchase burden for actual consumers.
The province will post public notices for the EV supply project on the websites of each city and county and will begin accepting applications early this month. To apply for a subsidy, consumers must sign a purchase contract with a car manufacturer (importer) and apply online through the "Pollution-Free Vehicle Purchase Subsidy Support System" (ev.or.kr/ps).
