Five graduates from Uiryeong Namsan Elementary School have been selected for the national table tennis team, causing a stir in the sports community.
In particular, Ma Young-min (13), a student at Uiryeong Jeonggok Middle School and a graduate of Namsan Elementary School, has caused a sensation by being selected for the national team, beating adult professional players.
In the 2025 National Table Tennis Team Selection, held from the 15th to the 24th, 10 players were finally confirmed to represent Korea in international competitions. It has been reported that five of the 10 male national team members are graduates of Uiryeong Namsan Elementary School, proving that it is a prestigious table tennis school.
Park Kang-hyeon (TL Table Tennis Club), who ranked first in the final round, Kwak Yu-bin (Korea Exchange), who ranked third, Kim Min-hyeok (Korea Water Resources Corporation), who ranked fifth, and Park Gyu-hyeon (Mirae Asset Securities), who ranked seventh, all started playing table tennis at Uiryeong Namsan Elementary School and are currently active in professional teams.
In addition, Ma Young-min, who will be a second-year student at Jeonggok Middle School this year, was selected for the national team with a record of 6 wins and 3 losses against adult professional players in the selection, drawing attention.
This achievement is a testament to the strong table tennis program at Uiryeong Namsan Elementary School and the hard work and dedication of the players. It is expected that these five players will represent Korea with pride and contribute to the development of Korean table tennis.
