Seoul, South Korea – SK Broadband announced today that it has developed a new Wi-Fi 7 router for home use, offering a significant 50% speed improvement over its predecessor.

Wi-Fi 7 is the next-generation Wi-Fi standard, designed to offer significantly improved speed, range, and reliability compared to the previous Wi-Fi 6 standard. SK Telecom and SK Broadband previously developed the world's first B2B (business-to-business) Wi-Fi 7 solution in December 2022.

The new home Wi-Fi 7 router leverages advanced networking technologies to deliver faster speeds and more stable connections within the home. Key features include:

4K-QAM: This technology allows for more efficient data transmission by combining multiple data streams.

Multi-Link Operation: This feature enables simultaneous data transmission across multiple frequency bands, improving overall throughput.

Preamble Puncturing: This technology optimizes frequency utilization by avoiding interference from other devices.

With these advancements, users can expect smoother and more reliable connections for multiple devices, even when streaming high-quality content like augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and ultra-high-definition videos.

SK Broadband has conducted extensive testing to ensure compatibility and stability with a wide range of devices, including smartphones and laptops. The company plans to commercialize the home Wi-Fi 7 router next year and will further enhance the product with AI-based Wi-Fi optimization technology in the future.
