Seoul, South Korea – Global Hansang Dream (GHD), a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the next generation of overseas Korean entrepreneurs, announced on April 23rd the appointment of Kim Jeom-bae (68), Chairman of Oman-based Al Kawther Trading and South Korea’s Cheongwan Co., Ltd., as its third chairman.

The decision was made during the 18th regular board meeting held online and offline on April 22nd. The outgoing chairman, Chung Young-soo, has been appointed as honorary chairman and will remain on the board.

Established in 2016 by leading CEOs from the Korean diaspora who participate in the World Korean Business Convention (formerly the World Hansang Convention), Global Hansang Dream aims to pass on the traditions and vision of Hansang (overseas Korean business community) as a legacy. The organization focuses on identifying and nurturing the next generation of overseas Koreans who will thrive globally, primarily through scholarship programs.

In his acceptance speech, the new chairman, Kim Jeom-bae, expressed his gratitude to the outgoing chairman, Chung Young-soo, stating, "The second Chairman Chung Young-soo laid the groundwork for realizing Global Hansang Dream's values and vision: the spirit of challenge, ethical management, and love for the nation." He further pledged, "Together with the board members, I will work harder to advance the next generation scholarship program."

Kim Jeom-bae is a prominent figure in the African and Middle Eastern Korean business community. He has served as the Chairman of the Federation of Korean Associations in the Middle East and Africa, Chairman of the Korean Chamber of Commerce in the Middle East and Africa, President of the Korean Association in Oman, Vice-Chair of the European, Middle Eastern, and African Advisory Committee of the Peaceful Unification Advisory Council, Chairman of the 20th World Korean Business Convention, a leading CEO of Hansang, and Vice-Chairman of Global Hansang Dream.

Based in Oman, Kim's primary business ventures through Al Kawther Trading involve deep-sea fishing, seafood processing, and ship management in the Indian Ocean. He is also known for actively supporting the settlement of Korean businesses in the region. Furthermore, Kim has been leading the "Peaceful Water Well" project, dedicated to providing clean drinking water to remote areas in Africa, contributing significantly to the development of Korea-Africa relations.

Global Hansang Dream's core mission is to cultivate future global leaders among overseas Koreans by offering various scholarship programs. These programs aim to provide financial assistance and mentorship to promising students, encouraging them to uphold the values of the Hansang community and contribute to the global Korean network. The organization believes in the potential of the next generation to build a world where all Koreans can achieve their dreams.

The appointment of Kim Jeom-bae, a successful and respected leader in the overseas Korean business community with a strong commitment to social contribution, is expected to further strengthen Global Hansang Dream's efforts in supporting the educational and professional development of young overseas Koreans. His extensive experience and network across the Middle East and Africa will be invaluable in expanding the organization's reach and impact.
