SEOUL - Novelist Lee Ju-ran (41) has been named the recipient of the 19th Kim Yu-jeong Literary Award.

According to the Kim Yu-jeong Memorial Society on the 11th, the winning work is the short story 'Winter Garden,' which the author contributed to the 2025 spring issue of the quarterly literary magazine Literature and Village. The judging committee for the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Award praised the novel, stating, "It is a story that shows how much love and sorrow are in the life of a person that seems too calm for anything to happen."

Lee Ju-ran began her literary career in 2012 after winning the novel category of The Literature of the World. She has published several short story collections, including 'Everyone's Different Father,' 'A Heart for One Person,' and 'Anything New?,' as well as the full-length novel 'Below the Surface.'

The Kim Yu-jeong Literary Award was established in 2007 to honor novelist Kim Yu-jeong (1908–1937), who wrote famous works such as 'Spring, Spring' and 'Camellia.' The award is given to short and medium-length novels published in literary magazines or single volumes, and comes with prize money of 30 million won. The award ceremony will be held on September 24 at the outdoor performance hall of the Kim Yu-jeong Literary Village in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province.
