An Unexpected Gift from Germany

On a day when heavy rain was pouring down, a German family on a business trip to LG visited Cherry Garden in Insadong. They were German of Turkish descent. It is highly likely that his grandfather had migrated as a worker and eventually settled in Germany. There are approximately 10 million such people in Germany. These guests were staying at a hotel in Gangnam, but they had come all the way to Insadong to have a meal.

After finishing their meal, they found themselves in a difficult situation as they tried to return to their hotel. Since it was the rainy season and taxis seemed impossible to catch, I called a call taxi for them and made sure they didn't have to pay the fare. "Turkey also helped Korea during the Korean War, so I will catch a taxi for you as a gift," I told them, even giving them a soccer T-shirt. They had to carry a baby and push a stroller as well. Highly worried about how they would get back to the hotel with no taxis in sight, they hugged me with tears welling in their eyes, saying, "Thank you."

Caught up in the busyness of life, I had forgotten about it. However, yesterday an LG employee came to Cherry Garden with a gift. "A German employee working at LG locally sent a gift to Cherry-nim," they said. They told me that a call had come in asking them to please deliver this gift to Cherry Garden in Insadong. Inside were German-style pie, chocolate, and a letter. My small gesture must have become an unforgettable memory for them on their first visit to Korea.

There are a few reasons why I run a restaurant dreaming of it as a global salon. It is not simply to sell food. It is because I can express my gratitude to countries that have helped us and also realize my own dream. I hope the scope of my dream expands even further. This is still only the beginning. Speaking of the baby, it has just passed its first birthday and is learning to toddle along. When the time comes, won't I be able to run stably as well? For a future where my dream comes true, I am out checking the venue again today starting from 6 a.m.
