The Korean women's junior handball team has advanced to the final of the Asian Championship.

Led by head coach Kim Kyung-jin of SK Sugar Gliders, Korea comfortably defeated Taiwan 31-17 in the semifinals on August 27th (local time) in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, at the 18th Asian Women's Junior (U19) Handball Championship.

This victory sets up a final showdown with Japan on the 29th.

Korea previously beat Japan 23-21 in a group stage match on the 25th.

Against Taiwan, Kim Bo-kyung (Korea National Sport University) and Lee Ye-seo (Incheon Business High School) led the team to victory with 7 and 6 goals, respectively.

Korea has a remarkable record in the tournament, having won every single one of the previous 17 championships, with the exception of the 16th tournament in 2022, which they did not attend due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the final of the last tournament in 2023, Korea dominated China with a 34-15 victory.

Match Results on August 27th

Semifinals

Korea 31 (16-11 15-6) 17 Taiwan
Japan 26-19 China
