The Jeonbuk State Culture and Tourism Foundation, led by CEO Lee Kyung-yoon, is launching a special cultural and tourism experience program on September 12 in Jeonju and Wanju for participants of the '2026 Jeonbuk K-Pop Academy.'
Marking its second consecutive year, this initiative is a collaborative effort between the foundation and the Jeonbuk State Content Convergence Agency. It seamlessly connects the Western Inland Tourism Promotion Project with overseas tourist attraction marketing strategies to showcase the diverse charms of Jeonbuk to a global audience.
A total of 23 participants, including 20 foreign nationals from 13 different countries such as Germany, the United States, and India, are taking part in the program.
The itinerary kicks off in the historic Jeonju Hanok Village, where participants will dress in traditional Korean hanbok for professional profile photo shoots. Following this, they will dive into Korean culinary culture by participating in a hands-on bibimbap-making class and receiving introductory education on Korean cuisine.
In the afternoon, the group will move to Wanju County to visit 'Dreamtteul Healing Farm,' a popular local spot where they will craft pressed-flower traditional fans using local flora and plants.
Returning to Jeonju later in the day, the participants will hold an energetic K-Pop busking performance. The day concludes with a vibrant visit to the Jeonju Nambu Market Night Market, where participants will independently order food, experiencing authentic local street food and traditional market culture firsthand.
The foundation designed this program to offer individuals with a high interest in Hallyu (the Korean Wave) an immersive experience of Jeonbuk’s rich cultural and tourism assets. By encouraging participants to capture and share their experiences through photos and videos on personal social media channels, the foundation aims to achieve organic, wide-reaching promotion of Jeonbuk tourism across international networks.
CEO Lee Kyung-yoon stated, "We hope that the participants who visited Jeonbuk through their passion for K-Pop will take this time to deeply experience our local culture, food, and tourist destinations. We anticipate that their cherished memories in Jeonbuk will naturally spread overseas through the digital content they create."
The 'Western Inland Tourism Promotion Project' is a wide-area cooperative initiative designed to discover specialized cultural contents and develop interconnected tourism products across Jeonbuk, Chungnam, and Sejong, thereby enhancing regional tourism competitiveness. Meanwhile, the 'Overseas Tourist Attraction Marketing Project' extends these efforts into international tourism markets, raising global awareness among domestic and international travel agencies, related organizations, and potential tourists to drive continuous inbound travel.
The 'Jeonbuk K-Pop Academy,' organized by the Jeonbuk State Content Convergence Agency, runs from September 5 to September 19. Now in its second year, the academy offers a comprehensive curriculum covering all aspects of K-Pop production, including professional vocal and dance training, lyric writing, audio recording, music video production, and live showcase performances.
