Guri City Continues Free Bicycle Repair Service to Enhance Citizen Convenience

Guri City is extending its free bicycle repair service into this year, a program that has been running since 2018. This initiative aims to reduce the financial burden on citizens who use bicycles and enhance their overall convenience.

According to the city on April 24th, the repair center is located at 319, Sutek-dong. It will be open every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM until September 30th. The center will be closed on Mondays and Fridays.

While the bicycle repair service itself is provided free of charge, it is important to note that any necessary replacement parts will be the responsibility of the bicycle owner. This means that while the labor for repairs is free, citizens will need to cover the cost of any new tubes, tires, chains, brake pads, or other components required to fix their bicycles.

Guri City has consistently emphasized the importance of cycling as a sustainable and healthy mode of transportation. The free bicycle repair service is a key component of the city's broader efforts to promote a bicycle-friendly environment. By offering accessible and free maintenance, the city encourages more residents to choose cycling for their daily commutes, leisure activities, and errands. This, in turn, contributes to reduced traffic congestion, improved air quality, and enhanced public health.

The service caters to a wide range of bicycle-related issues, from simple tasks like tire inflation and brake adjustments to more complex repairs such as gear tuning and chain replacements. Experienced mechanics are on hand to diagnose problems and perform the necessary repairs efficiently. This ensures that bicycles are kept in safe and optimal working condition, promoting rider safety and extending the lifespan of the bicycles.

Beyond the practical benefits of bicycle repair, the service also fosters a sense of community among cyclists in Guri City. It provides a space where bicycle enthusiasts can interact, share tips, and build connections. This contributes to a stronger cycling culture within the city and encourages more people to embrace cycling as a regular part of their lives.

Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun stated, "We will continue to strive to enhance the convenience of citizens who use bicycles and foster a safe cycling culture in Guri City." This commitment underscores the city's dedication to supporting its cycling population and recognizing the numerous benefits that cycling brings to the community.

The continuation of the free bicycle repair service reflects Guri City's ongoing investment in sustainable transportation and the well-being of its residents. By providing this valuable service, the city is not only making cycling more affordable and convenient but also actively promoting a healthier and more environmentally conscious lifestyle for its citizens. The service is expected to be well-utilized by the community, further solidifying Guri City's reputation as a city that values and supports its cycling community.
