JEJU CITY, South Korea – Billiards sensation Kim Ga-young's remarkable winning streak has come to an end, despite her successful advancement to the quarterfinals of the 'SK Rent-a-Car Jeju Special Self-Governing Province PBA-LPBA World Championship 2025'.
Kim, known as the 'Billiards Empress', defeated Jang Hye-ri in a decisive 3-0 victory during the round of 16 held at Halla Gymnasium on March 14th. However, her impressive 38-game winning streak was snapped the previous day in a loss to Kim Ye-eun during the group stage.
Despite the end of her streak, Kim's performance remains dominant. She secured her spot in the quarterfinals with set scores of 11-10, 11-10, and 11-5, showcasing her exceptional skill and resilience.
The tournament has seen other notable performances as well. Srong Pheavy, the 'Cambodian Special Express', delivered a stunning 3-0 victory over Jeong Su-bin, while Cha Yu-ram overcame 'Japanese 3-Cushion Legend' Hida Orie. Kim Min-ah and Han Ji-eun also secured their places in the quarterfinals with decisive wins.
In the men's division, Kang Dong-gung emerged victorious in a thrilling five-set match against Kim Young-won, earning his spot in the quarterfinals. The match, a highly anticipated clash between the season's top contenders, lived up to its billing, with Kang staging a dramatic comeback.
