Marking its milestone 20th anniversary, the "Chungbuk Excellent Traditional Market Fair," the largest festival celebrating traditional marketplaces in North Chungcheong Province, has officially opened its doors. Running for three days from September 11 to September 13, the grand event takes place along the picturesque Baegokcheon Stream riverside and riverside parking lot area in Jincheon-gun. This annual festival serves as a vibrant platform of coexistence and harmony, bringing together traditional markets from cities and counties across the province to showcase their finest local products, stimulate consumer engagement, and breathe new vitality into the regional traditional market economy.

Under this year's symbolic slogan, "20 Years Illuminating the Value of Chungbuk Traditional Markets!", the commemorative exposition features an extensive and diverse array of programs. Visitors are treated to exceptional product exhibitions and sales booths representing regional markets, bustling food bazaars serving authentic local delicacies, interactive family-friendly experience events, and high-energy cultural and artistic performances that highlight the unique charm of provincial marketplaces.

The festivities commenced on September 11 with an official opening ceremony followed by celebratory live performances that drew enthusiastic crowds. To enhance visitor participation and practical economic benefits, the event features on-site promotional programs such as Onnuri gift certificate cashback events, personalized souvenir creation including custom photo mugs and photo frames, and traditional cultural experiences such as top-spinning, ddakji-making, and tuho (traditional arrow-throwing) games. These family-oriented subsidiary events have successfully engaged visitors of all generations, bridging the gap between historical market culture and modern family entertainment.

As the weekend unfolds on September 12 and 13, the exposition reaches its peak with specialized promotional events highlighting signature regional specialties from all 11 participating cities and counties across Chungbuk. Featured items include Cheongju Cheongwon-myeongjin rice, Chungju crisp apples, Jecheon medicinal herbal specialties, Boeun jujubes, Yeongdong premium wines, Goesan chili peppers, and Jincheon's unique rice bread and Jangsu taffy. These signature goods offer visitors a comprehensive taste of the province's agricultural richness and culinary heritage, further amplifying the festive atmosphere.

Reflecting on the significance of the milestone event, provincial leadership emphasized the irreplaceable value of traditional marketplaces within the community. Officials noted that traditional markets serve as living foundations of the grassroots economy, carrying the authentic warmth of everyday life, as well as crucial historical and cultural venues connecting generations. Through events like this 20th-anniversary fair, organizers hope that consumers will rediscover the distinct charm and appeal of traditional markets, translating these positive initial visits into continuous, sustainable consumer habits that inject lasting vitality into Chungbuk's local economy.
