Nonsan, South Korea – Chungcheongnam-do province has announced plans to establish a drone park in Nonsan to boost the local drone industry. The park will be built near Tapseongho Waterfront Ecological Park in Bujeok-myeon, Nonsan City.
The province selected Nonsan as the site for the drone park after a contest among 14 cities and counties within the province. The selection was based on a comprehensive review of 13 items, including location suitability, commercialization potential, and safety management system establishment.
The project will cost a total of 600 million won, including 180 million won from the provincial budget. The drone park will feature various facilities to support drone flights, including a fixed-wing runway, a take-off and landing field, and charging and rest facilities.
The park will also provide space for drone companies to conduct test flights. A real-time monitoring and management system will be implemented to ensure the safety of park users and nearby residents.
"We believe that this drone park will revitalize the local economy and help the drone industry take a leap forward," said Lim Taek-bin, head of the Land Management Division.
The province expects the drone park to attract drone companies and researchers, and to create new jobs in the region. The park is also expected to promote drone-related tourism and education.
The construction of the drone park is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
