American pop superstar Taylor Swift has achieved a monumental milestone, recording a cumulative 100 weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard main album chart, the 'Billboard 200'.
According to Billboard's chart preview article on the 11th (local time), Swift's studio album 'The Life of a Showgirl' claimed the top spot for the 14th time on the Billboard 200 chart dated October 17, recording 93,000 equivalent album units. This result was driven by the continued impact of the deluxe edition release featuring four previously unreleased songs.
With this feat, Swift has set a milestone as the first solo artist in history to spend a cumulative 100 weeks at the summit of the Billboard 200 across her 15 No. 1 albums. This is an all-time record for a solo artist, significantly surpassing Elvis Presley (67 weeks) in second place. Among all artists, including bands and groups, she ranks second overall behind the legendary British rock band The Beatles (132 weeks across 19 No. 1 albums).
This week's upper tier of the chart was filled with a fierce competition among artists holding the most No. 1 albums in history. Rapper Drake's 'HABIBTI' leaped to No. 2, fueled by a reissue featuring additional tracks, while The Beatles' legendary masterpiece 'Rubber Soul' deluxe edition re-entered at No. 4.
This marks the first time that The Beatles (19 albums), Drake (15 albums), and Swift (15 albums)—the superstars who hold the record for the most No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200—have simultaneously placed within the top 5.
