Recognized for resident-led village development plans and more

Cheonan City announced on the 2nd that Daehong 2-ri in Seonghwan-eup received an Honorable Mention in the Village Development category at the '2025 Chungcheongnam-do Happy Rural Village Contest.'

The Happy Rural Village Contest is held annually to discover and spread excellent cases of rural village development and to promote sustainable rural development centered on communities.

This year, the contest was divided into four categories: village development, rural development, vacant house revitalization, and outstanding residents. Ten villages from nine cities and counties in Chungcheongnam-do participated and presented their cases to identify excellent examples.

Daehong 2-ri Mugunghwa Village was honored with an Honorable Mention, recognized for its excellent achievements, including resident-led village development planning, specialized landscape and environmental improvements, and the operation of communication programs through connections between local organizations.

Daehong 2-ri has been actively promoting village development projects since 2017, growing systematically through phased support projects.

Through these village development initiatives, the village has created a village garden around Daehong Reservoir and has continuously developed specialized village content, such as holding the 'Sunrise Festival' and 'Let's Walk on Flower Paths' festival every year.

Additionally, it actively operates urban-rural exchange programs, including rural experience activities, in conjunction with local organizations and universities.

Lee Hak-soo, head of the Agricultural Policy Division, stated, "This award is a valuable achievement accomplished through the voluntary participation and cooperation of the village residents. We will continue to do our best to enhance sustainable rural vitality by strengthening residents' capabilities at the village level and improving living conditions."
