The "67th Korean Folk Arts Festival" will be held for three days from September 18 to 20 at the Jinbu-myeon Citizens' Sports Park in Pyeongchang-gun.

Co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Gangwon State, and Pyeongchang-gun, and organized by Pyeongchang-gun and the Traditional Performing Arts Foundation, the event is expected to draw about 3,000 participants, including folk art teams representing cities and provinces nationwide, officials, and visitors.

This marks the first time in 12 years, since 2014, that the Korean Folk Arts Festival is held in Gangwon State. It is expected to serve as an opportunity to widely promote the value and charm of our traditional culture by bringing together various folk arts, such as nongak (farmers' music) and folk plays, transmitted from regions across the country.

On the first day, the 18th, the event will kick off with the general division participants' entrance ceremony, followed by the opening ceremony and invited performances, with 11 teams competing in the morning and afternoon. In the evening, a celebratory concert featuring singers Park Ji-hyun and Hong Ji-yun will be held, presenting a stage where traditional arts and popular music harmonize.

On the 19th, the general division competitions, joint performances by participating teams, and comprehensive evaluations will continue, wrapping up the general division schedule with the closing and awards ceremonies.

On the 20th, the youth division will begin with its opening ceremony, followed by youth team competitions, joint performances, daedong nori (mass folk play), and comprehensive evaluations. The three-day event will officially conclude with the closing and awards ceremonies.

Throughout the event, promotional and experiential booths showcasing local agricultural specialties and tourism resources, as well as food booths, will be operated. Various fringe events, including busking performances by local artists and professional performance troupes, are also prepared to offer abundant sights and entertainment for visitors.

Jeong Yeon-gil, Director of Culture and Sports at Gangwon State, stated, "We hope this festival will serve as an opportunity to reflect on the value of folk arts and faithfully pass down our precious traditions to the next generation," adding, "We will prepare to make it a festival where all participants and visitors can enjoy and harmonize together."
