Chungcheong Tourism Promotion Council and KTO Taipei Office Host Fam Tour for Taiwan Travel Industry to Expand Tourism Exchange

Chungcheongbuk-do announced that, alongside Daejeon, Sejong, and Chungcheongnam-do, it conducted a 5-night, 6-day tourism fam tour for key officials from the Taiwan travel industry from Thursday, August 27 to Tuesday, September 1.

This fam tour was organized in connection with the "Central Region Tourism Year," a core project promoted by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Taipei Office for 2026, to vitalize the attraction of inbound tourists from Taiwan to the Chungcheong region. The Chungcheong Tourism Promotion Council, in collaboration with its Daejeon-Chungnam branch and Sejong-Chungbuk branch, invited the local Taiwanese travel industry to introduce the diverse tourism contents of the Chungcheong region and designed the program to lead directly to actual product development and promotion.

The delegation consisted of a total of 15 people, including 14 officials from major Taiwanese travel agencies such as ezTravel, Colatour, KKday, Phoenix Tours, and Lion Travel, along with one official from the KTO Taipei Office.

The participants entered Korea through Cheongju International Airport on August 27 and moved to Buyeo. Starting with a welcome event and a seminar, they experienced various natural, historical, and leisure contents across the Chungcheong region, including downtown Daejeon tourism, visiting the Presidential Archives in Sejong, touring the Baekje Cultural Complex, and experiencing hot air balloon rides in Chungcheongnam-do.

In particular, August 31, the final day of the four-city and provincial itinerary in the Chungcheong region, was organized as a program to deeply experience Chungbuk’s healing and cultural tourism resources.

The itinerary concluded after exploring Beopjusa Temple and Maltijae Observatory in Boeun, experiencing traditional drums and NANTA at the Yeongdong Gugak Experience Village, visiting the Rainbow Healing Center and Wine Observatory, and touring a local wine farm. The participants then departed through Cheongju International Airport on September 1, bringing the entire fam tour schedule to a successful close.

Chungcheongbuk-do expressed expectations that this fam tour would lead to future tourism commercialization and the attraction of inbound tourists, as the Taiwanese travel industry directly experienced Chungbuk's healing and cultural contents such as Beopjusa Temple, Maltijae, and Yeongdong Gugak experiences.

Cho Sung-don, head of the Tourism Division at Chungcheongbuk-do, stated that this fam tour served as a practical opportunity for the local Taiwanese travel industry to directly experience and connect Chungbuk's healing and cultural tourism resources to product development. He added that the province will continue to actively promote Chungbuk's charm in overseas tourism markets in cooperation with the Taipei Office and Chungcheong region cities and provinces.
