Bucheon City is calling for nominations for the '3rd Bucheon City Culture and Arts Awards' to discover and recognize hidden contributors who have dedicated themselves to the development of local culture and arts. Recommendations will be accepted until August 14th, and one individual from the culture and arts sector will be selected and honored at the '52nd Citizens' Day' commemorative ceremony in October.

The purpose of this Culture and Arts Award is to discover individuals who will continue Bucheon City's long history of cultural and artistic development and to foster pride among local cultural and artistic figures. Notably, Bucheon City has consistently recognized individuals who have contributed to local cultural and artistic development every year, starting with the '1st Bucheon City Culture Award' in 1983. To date, a total of 123 awardees have been honored, leading the promotion of local culture. This tradition has been an important foundation for Bucheon City to establish itself as a true cultural city.

Eligibility and Nomination Methods

Candidates must have consistently engaged in activities for at least three years to promote local culture and develop local arts. Additionally, as of the public announcement date of July 14th, candidates must have resided in Bucheon City for at least three years or be affiliated with institutions, organizations, or businesses located in Bucheon City. This clearly specifies that the awards are for those who have directly contributed to the cultural and artistic development of Bucheon City.

Nominations are possible through various channels. Heads of relevant organizations, educational institutions, and cultural and artistic organizations in the city can make recommendations, and nominations are also accepted through the joint signatures of 30 or more Bucheon citizens aged 18 or older. This demonstrates Bucheon City's commitment to actively encouraging citizen participation to discover hidden talents more broadly.

Required Documents and Submission

The essential documents for candidate recommendations are as follows: a recommendation letter, a statement of achievements, a resume, evidentiary documents of achievements, and a certificate of employment. Two passport-sized photos must also be prepared. Submissions can be made either by visiting the Culture Policy Division at Bucheon City Hall directly or by mail. For inquiries, please contact the Culture Policy Division (032-625-3104), and further details can be found on the Bucheon City website (www.bucheon.go.kr) under the official notices or news section.

Bucheon: A Continuous Leap as a City of Culture and Arts

A Bucheon City official stated, "Through these candidate nominations, we aim to discover valuable individuals who have led the growth of local culture and arts." They added, "Bucheon City will continue to foster the pride of cultural and artistic figures and move forward as a cultural city together with its citizens."

Bucheon City is solidifying its status as a city of culture and arts, excelling in various fields such as comics, film, and literature. The international-scale Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) and the Bucheon International Animation Festival (BIAF) attract numerous domestic and international visitors each year, invigorating the city. Furthermore, the active performances of municipal art groups such as the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra and thecheon City Choir provide citizens with opportunities to enjoy high-quality cultural experiences.

Thus, from the past to the present, Bucheon City has made culture and arts the core driving force of its urban development. The 'Bucheon City Culture and Arts Awards' is part of these efforts, offering due recognition to those who have quietly preserved local culture and arts in unseen ways, and serving as an important occasion for their dedication to inspire future generations. Attention is drawn to whether a new protagonist will emerge through this call for nominations, further broadening the horizons of Bucheon City's culture and arts.
