Daejeon City has successfully completed a large-scale safety inspection of its city buses, the vital transportation for its citizens.

According to the city on the 28th, the "First Half of 2025 City Bus Joint Inspection" was conducted for nine days from April 14th to 24th. The results showed that all vehicles passed without any significant defects.

The inspection focused on 17 items crucial for citizen safety, including exit door sensors and low-floor bus lifts, and was thoroughly carried out on a total of 1,004 city buses.

The inspection was conducted on-site by a joint inspection team of 31 members, comprising representatives from Daejeon City, the Daejeon City Bus Transportation Business Association, and the Daejeon Regional Bus Labor Union. The team visited 18 city bus depots.

In particular, core safety equipment such as ▲ the operating status of exit door pressure sensors to prevent pinching accidents and ▲ the operational status of low-floor bus lifts for the convenience of transportation vulnerable individuals were intensively inspected. The actual operation of these devices was also carefully checked.

The inspection results revealed only minor issues such as ▲ malfunctioning CCTV, ▲ inadequate display of licenses, and ▲ defective disabled passenger stop buttons. These were immediately addressed on-site. Other identified issues will be rectified by the respective companies, and the city will conduct a follow-up inspection to verify the improvements.

Nam Si-deok, Director of the Transportation Bureau of Daejeon City, stated, "The inspection results show that no defects directly related to citizen safety were found, so citizens can feel safe when using city buses. We will continue to promote on-site inspections and do our best to create a public transportation environment that earns the trust of citizens so that they can use city buses without worry."
